Objectives / Purpose of the JobA Senior Buyer leads the procurement of goods and services that meet the organization’s quality, cost, and delivery requirements. The role ensures strategic sourcing, manages supplier relationships, drives continuous improvement, and mentors junior buyers.
Responsibilities- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms.
- Follow B&L procurement procedures.
- Collaborate with functions including R&D, Quality, and Program Management to ensure high performance and customer service.
- Lead projects for assigned categories.
- Deliver established cost savings targets through competitive bidding and effective negotiation.
- Control and mitigate supplier‑related risks, cost, quality, and delivery.
- Perform all sourcing and procurement activities for major initiatives, including requirement analysis, RFP/RFQ development, bid events, supplier selection, contracting, risk mitigation, and performance management.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers aligned with B+L goals.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively across functional teams.
- Demonstrate motivation, self‑drive, and adaptability to change.
- Use data and market insights to inform decisions; think independently and anticipate changing needs.
- Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, service, support, availability, reliability, production capacity, and capabilities.
- 3+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier management, or related roles, preferably in medical device manufacturing.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder influence skills.
- Excellent project management skills to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills to interpret supplier quotes and contracts.
- Problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Experience with contract negotiations, supplier development, global sourcing preferred.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (10‑20%).
- Experience with AS400.
- Advanced degree (Bachelor, Master, etc.) in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
