Mortgage Field Services Inspector

FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but the ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines is crucial. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over 9 years.

The purpose of the property inspection for mortgage lenders is to verify property occupancy and report on the general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.

• Complete inspections within the county assigned.
• Most inspections should take 5–6 minutes each.
• Complete the inspection within 4 days after assignment.
• Record general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Fill out a short form in the app.
• Spend extended periods driving, making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.

• Computer with an internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will pay for your own gas).

• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver's license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate that varies by county and volume, resulting in an equivalent earnings of $30–$40 per hour. Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20–500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower volume counties have higher rates; higher volume counties have lower rates.

There is no set volume; the work is consistent month‑to‑month.

You can earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory. No additional mileage reimbursement beyond the flat fee per inspection.
