Job Summary
Grants and Contracts Officer The Department of Neurology is seeking a Grants and Contracts Officer to facilitate the grant process, pre- and post-award. Coordinate research, prepare, finalize, submit, and follow up on industry, foundation, and/or government grants. Research and draft proposals, develop budgets, and manage the submission process, ensuring deadlines are met. Process grant reconciliations, maintain records, and communicate with funders.
Establish relationships with foundations.
This position provides complex administrative support for Various Principal Investigators and their labs. The desirable candidate will have demonstrated a strong organizational capacity, excellent communication skills, and the ability to balance priorities while ensuring follow-through with a diverse set of responsibilities.
This position will be primarily remote with occasional days in the office.

Establish relationships with foundations. Requires moderate skillset and proficiency in discipline.
Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity, under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment. Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience. This is a Developing-Level position in the General Professional track. Conducts complex, important work under minimal supervision and with wide latitude for independent judgment. Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience. This is a Career-Level position in the General Professional track. Equivalency Statement: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Grants and Contracts Officer, II:
Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.
Grants and Contracts Officer, III:
Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.
Grants and Contracts Officer, IV:
Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 8 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience.
- Must be local and able to work on-site as needed.
- Research administration, sponsored projects, or grants and contracts experience preferred.
- Experience with federal, foundation, industry-sponsored, and/or VA-funded research preferred.
- Experience with NIH and other federal sponsors strongly preferred.
- Ability to independently manage an assigned portfolio and serve as the primary grants and contracts point of contact for assigned divisions and faculty.
- Ability to manage a high-volume workload, competing priorities, and multiple deadlines with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret and apply sponsor guidelines, institutional policies, and award requirements.
- Strong communication skills and experience working directly with PIs, faculty, departmental leadership, central research offices, and sponsors.
