Job Description Req#: 5597 A position has been declared open in the Weber School District at Valley View Elementary for an Aide. This paraprofessional position is for 4.5 hours per day, 9 months per year. Applicants may apply on Files will be reviewed before interviews are scheduled. THIS POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED, AFTER A MINIMUM OF 5 WORKING DAYS.
Purpose Statement
The Classroom Aide position was established for the purpose of assisting assigned teaching personnel in a classroom. This will involve working with others to support the planning of instruction and supervision of students; performing classroom clerical tasks; and assisting students in preparing for daily tasks through the development of social, emotional, physical, moral, and intellectual skills.
Essential Functions
Assists in planning and incorporating intentional and differentiated instruction in whole group, small group, and child-directed learning aligned with all of the developmental domains and academic content areas defined in the Utah Early Childhood Standards for the purpose of improving students’ academic success.Assists in administering ongoing assessment of students’ educational growth and developmental progress to inform instruction.Assists in maintaining students’ files/records for the purpose of documenting activities and/or providing reliable information.Monitors individual students and classroom activities for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.Participates in ongoing, focused, and intensive professional development for the school readiness program.Assists other personnel as may be needed for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.Assists in planning and incorporating family engagement, including ongoing communication between home and school, and parent education opportunities based on each family’s circumstances.Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g., scheduling, copying, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the teacher and/or administrator in providing records/materials.Attendance is an essential function.Physical Education (PE) Aide Responsibilities
The job of PE Aide was established for the purpose of providing for the safety and welfare of students during non-classroom activities; minimizing the frequency or severity of harmful incidents; and communicating observations and/or incidents that may impact the general well-being of students and school personnel.
Essential Functions
Facilitates games among students (e.g., hands out equipment, balls, etc.) for the purpose of providing age-appropriate activities.Intervenes in potential emergency situations for the purpose of minimizing disruptions of playground activities and/or injury to involved students.Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (e.g., restrooms, cafeteria, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of students.Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g., accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel.Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications Skills, knowledge, and abilities:
- Must adhere to safety practices.
- Must have knowledge of child development and evidence-based instructional practices.
- Must be able to adapt to changing work priorities; display tact and courtesy; meet deadlines and schedules; set priorities; be attentive to detail; and work with detailed information/data.

Experience:
Job-related experience is desired.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
