A position has been declared open in the Weber School District for a Student Advocate Aide. This position is for 5 hours per day, 9 months per year. Applicants may apply on Files will be reviewed before interviews are scheduled. THIS POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED AFTER A MINIMUM OF 5 WORKING DAYS.
Purpose StatementThe job of the Student Advocate was established for the purpose of assisting junior high/high school students who may be below proficiency and need additional support. Under the direction of the designated Lead Counselor, the role involves developing their skills, providing support, and facilitating communication while offering education.

This position has afternoon hours from 2:30 PM to 8:30 PM Monday-Thursday and Friday mornings 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This is a grant-funded position. Student Advocates will work with students in adult education and the English as a Second Language program.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesMinimum Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Must be able to operate standard office equipment; prepare and maintain accurate records; utilize pertinent software applications; and employ problem-solving techniques. Must have knowledge of instructional/tutorial procedures and practices; intervention techniques; age-appropriate activities; stages of child development; and safety practices and procedures.
Job QualificationsExperience: Job-related experience is required.
Education: Targeted job-related education that meets the organization’s prerequisite requirements.
