Req#: 5253 A position has been declared open in the Weber School District at Midland for an Elementary Behavior Unit Sp. Ed. Para educator. This position is for 5.75 hours per day, 9 months per year. Job Description: Work under the direction of a behavior specialist to intervene with students with challenging behavior. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, engaging in the following activities with support and direction:

• Utilize safe and appropriate procedures when managing students with challenging behavior.
• Interpret and implement written behavior plans.
• Engage in intensive teaching activities such as Discrete Trial Teaching (DTT), as well as naturalistic teaching with the appropriate use of reinforcement strategies.
• Utilize and model the implementation of positive behavior supports with students.
• Utilize, model, and fade safe and appropriate prompting procedures to promote both successful and independent responding.
• Implement data collection systems, accurately collect and summarize data, including: A-B-C, count, frequency, duration, latency, inter-response time, event, and interval based recording.
• Model and train school staff on the implementation of specific interventions and procedures to address problem behavior.
• Collaborate with school team members to provide instruction and support effectively, and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment.

Requirements:

• Regular work attendance is critical.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, bending, standing, and sitting in student-size chairs) for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to move from sitting on the floor to standing position repeatedly.
• Must be able to utilize quick body movements to maintain safety and implement student behavior plans.
• Must be able to provide own transportation to various school settings with reimbursement provided as applicable.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/CREDENTIALS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completed coursework and/or experience in education, social work, behavioral science, human development, or related fields.
• Obtain and/or maintain certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).
