A position has been declared open in the WSD for a Fire Science Teacher for the upcoming school year. This position is for 2.5 hours per day, 9 months per year and will be for the  school year. APPLICANTS MAY APPLY at

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for teaching Fire Science courses and effectively leading discussions and planning instruction, activities, assignments, projects, and assessments covering the state standards for this course.
• Utilize the UVU Fire and Rescue Academy Curriculum, which can be found at https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..
• Develop a curriculum that engages students in the exploration of fire science, fostering their understanding of fire behavior, emergency response procedures, and fire safety.
• Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes critical thinking, problem-solving, and practical hands-on experience.

Physical Demands: This role may involve moderate physical activities such as standing, walking, and demonstrating firefighting techniques.
ATTENDANCE IS AN ESSENTIAL FUNCTION OF THIS JOB OPPORTUNITY.

Certifications (helpful but not required):

• Relevant certifications in fire science, such as Firefighter I and II, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations, or Instructor I.

Job Qualifications:

• Valid teaching license or relevant endorsement in Career and Technical Education, Fire Science, or a related field.
• Demonstrated expertise and experience in fire science, firefighting, or emergency response.
• Proficiency in teaching and curriculum development.
• Strong knowledge of state standards and their application to instruction.
• Familiarity with fire behavior, emergency response procedures, and fire safety protocols.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and motivate students.
