Job Summary / Basic Function

Provide accommodated testing for students with disabilities, ensuring that all testing services comply with institutional policies and federal regulations, including ADA and Section 504. Under the general supervision of the Coordinator for Outreach and Operations, manage test accommodation services. Collaborate extensively with students, faculty, and staff in implementing accommodations at all campus locations. Stay informed about changes in laws, regulations, and best practices related to disability accommodations in academic settings.

Attend professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices. Perform related tasks as assigned by the Director of Disability Services. Engage in work at all campus locations and in the community with a sometimes non‑standard work schedule requiring adaptability and flexibility. Face‑to‑face and virtual, Monday–Friday with some evening and weekend hours. Professional travel (local, regional, national).

Key Responsibilities
  • Accommodated Testing and Student Support
    :
    Oversee the scheduling and administration of exams with accommodations for students with disabilities. Collaborate and communicate with students to ensure they understand their testing accommodations and the process for requesting test accommodations. Provide individualized guidance to students regarding their rights and responsibilities related to accommodated testing. Create and maintain clear protocols for students in a student handbook, with an acknowledgement statement.

    Assist students in understanding the test accommodation process, including the steps for submitting requests.
  • Team Support
    :
    Collaborate and communicate with Disability Advisors to ensure that appropriate test materials, assistive technology, accommodations (e.g., extended time, alternative formats, readers, scribing) are provided as required. Act as the main point of contact between Disability Advisors and accommodated testing. Educate department staff on the importance of testing accommodations and how to implement them effectively. Provide training for department staff on how to communicate with faculty and implement accommodations effectively.

    Create and maintain department policies and procedures for accommodated testing.
  • Faculty Support
    :
    Collaborate and communicate with faculty to ensure the timely provision of accommodations and the secure administration of tests. Act as the main point of contact between Disability Services and faculty regarding testing accommodations. Educate faculty on the importance of academic accommodations and how to implement them effectively. Provide training for faculty on the testing accommodation process, including confidentiality requirements, securing test materials, and managing the logistics of accommodations.

    Remain updated on current faculty testing protocols and needs.
  • Testing Services and WSU Online Support
    :
    Collaborate with Testing Services and WSU Online to advocate for students’ needs and ensure that accommodations are provided consistently and effectively. Act as the main point of contact between Disability Services and campus partners regarding testing accommodations.
