Position
Description:
This role is intended for current tutors, coaches, SI Leaders, and Learning Assistants working exclusively in the Learning Support Department. The tutor meets weekly with students enrolled in WLC 2810 and 1810 for a 30‑minute session. The purpose of the tutoring includes:
- Helping students build English conversation skills on topics related to WLC course content.
- Supporting students’ sense of belonging during their first or second semester as WSU students.
- Directing students to campus resources and encouraging participation in WSU events as applicable.
- Must be a WSU student and currently tutoring in the Learning Support Department.
- Must have completed the first semester of CRLA training (Advanced Tutor) or the first semester of SI/LA training.
- Good listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and direct conversations with tutees.
- Completed second semester of CRLA training (Master Tutor) or second semester of SI/LA training.
- Knowledge of second language acquisition.
- Knowledge of campus resources outside of tutoring.
• Sedentary work with occasional walking or standing.
• Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, with negligible force frequently.
• Visual acuity required for reading and computer use.
