Weber State University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the discipline of Systems Engineering to begin in Fall 2026. Interested individuals should demonstrate proficiency and working knowledge of holistic systems modeling and analysis, systems optimization and simulation, requirements development, risk management, system verification and validation, and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) activities.
NOTEThe person hired must either already be a Utah resident or be willing to relocate to Utah. The position also requires periodic attendance to local and out-of-state career fairs, recruitment events, and networking activities.
Job DutiesApplicants must be able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. They must also demonstrate proven ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with students, staff, and faculty peers. The primary assignment will be with the Master of Science in Systems Engineering (MSSE) graduate program but the applicant may be requested periodically to teach for related undergraduate programs as needed.
Required Qualifications- Must have at least five years of applicable work/industry experience.
- International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification – active & in good standing.
- For a tenure-track Assistant Professor appointment, applicants must have a minimum of a PhD degree in Systems Engineering or related discipline.
- For a non-tenure track Instructor position, applicants must have a minimum of a Masters Degree in Systems Engineering or related discipline and either be currently pursuing or commit to earning a PhD in Systems Engineering or related discipline. For this appointment, transition to tenure track would require approval of the Dean based on completion of the PhD degree. Instructor positions are temporary appointments renewable annually at the sole discretion of the university.
- PhD in Systems Engineering or related discipline and with university-level teaching experience, as well as those with additional work experience and additional teaching experience in Systems Engineering programs similar to those at Weber State University.
- OMG-Certified Systems Modeling Language (SysML) Professional (OCSMP) certifications and/or International Requirements Engineering Board (IREB) certifications.

Physical Requirements:

Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, using a computer terminal, extensive reading.
