Site Safety and Health Officer
Job Title: HHI Campus Safety Officer
Region: Ogden, Utah
Reporting To: Corporate Safety Director and Manufacturing Superintendent
Responsible For: Overseeing the safety of employees and equipment on the HHI Corporation main campus to include manufacturing, maintenance, shipping/receiving, and main office. Also responsible for ensuring project management and required administrative reports are completed per Federal, State, and HHI Corporation standards.
Job Purpose: To ensure safety on site and compliance with OSHA, federal, state, and company safety policies.
Main Duties and Responsibilities-working with leads and managers to ensure a safe working environment for all projects taking place on the campus.
Must be able to work with government and non-government personnel in a professional and clear manner. Be able to work with different trades to ensure a safe environment without limiting the trades ability to complete work. Must have a working knowledge and understanding in either manufacturing, shipping and receiving, or vehicle/equipment maintenance. Must be able to properly communicate over the phone and in writing to upper management to include Subcontractors, Suppliers, Onsite Staff, Owners, PM’s, Superintendents, and Corporate Safety Officer.
Be able to solve unique safety situations and find acceptable solutions to ensure the safety of people, equipment, and facilities.
- OSHA 30 (or be able to complete within 1 month of hiring)
- Knowledge in the following areas: HAZCOM, Fall Protection, overhead crane, DOT safety requirements, and HEC
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office and online databases
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen test if hired
- Good driving record, valid license - insurable through the company
- Be able to stand for several hours at a time
- Not afraid of heights
- Be able to work both indoors and outdoors
- Can clearly communicate in person, written, and electronically
- Minimum 2 years of safety experience
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- HAZWOPER 40-hour course
- Various safety competent persons certifications (Fall Protection, Excavation, etc.)
- Experience working with manufacturing, equipment maintenance, or shipping/Receiving
