Project Overview

Craig Technologies is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner on the Bechtel and Northrop Grumman team to deliver the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. Craig Technologies’ scope of service in Sentinel’s current Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase focuses on the ground infrastructure component of the program.
Craig Technologies has handled efforts such as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile‑defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. Job Summary

In this role, you will plan, develop, and review Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure PD&P designs comply with all regulations and standards.
This position is for a Smart Plant S3 D Designer/Engineer who will prepare 3D designs associated with DOD and USAF projects. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem‑solving abilities, can‑do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. This role will specifically support the USAF Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase.

Responsibilities
  • Build layout in Smart Plant S3D model environment.
  • Model piping, HVAC, and equipment in the 3D model environment.
  • Prepare drawings/documents for floor plans.
  • Assist with coordination of 3D model activities, including interference reconciliation, with other related disciplines.
  • Interface with stress and pipe support engineers, construction, and suppliers during the preparation of designs for model/space control.
  • Perform coordination review of specifications and other documents prepared by others.
  • Possess knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and piping codes.
  • Hands‑on experience using Smart Plant S3D and drawing generation.
  • Knowledge and application of International Building Code, ASME B31.3 for piping, plumbing codes, and ASHRAE standards.
Level 1

Leads or administers work of PD&P designers and drafters for a business line technology to include the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2‑D and 3‑D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models and construction drawings.
Develops designs for complete and complex PD&P engineering systems such as earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing with minimum supervision from which detailed scale models and/or construction drawings are completed.
Assists in constructing detailed scale models.
Prepares or assists with the preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations.
Monitors and checks work for compliance with approved PD&P design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy.
Ensures PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
Participates in constructability reviews.

Level 2

Plans, develops, coordinates, and reviews design work within a small‑size PD&P design work group on projects of medium size or assignments in support of global business unit.
Produces drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of earthwork, drainage, road design, foundation, and steel detailing.
Ensures PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
