Project Overview:

Bechtel is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner on the Northrop Grumman team to deliver the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. Bechtel’s scope of service in Sentinel’s current Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase focuses on the ground infrastructure component of the program.

A major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled such efforts as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century. Major Responsibilities:

• Essential duties include performing pipe stress analysis of systems in accordance with ASME B31.3 Code.
• The stress work includes the modeling of the piping systems to verify piping flexibility, stability, and qualification of equipment nozzle loads.
• Work closely with layout personnel and pipe support engineers to deliver a quality and cost-effective design. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required.
• Working knowledge of dynamic analysis and ASME B31.3 or B31.1 Codes.
• Evaluates, selects, and applies standard plant design and piping engineeringmethods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
• Participates in reviews and recommends approval of design drawings and data for compliance with requirements.
• Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions.
• Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques, and/ordifficult coordination requirements.
• Coordinates plant design engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups,engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Level I: B achelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
• Level II: B achelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• EIT certification or PE registration preferred.
• Must be a US citizen.
• Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment, education, and travel.
• Working knowledge of dynamic analysis and ASME B31.3 or B31.1 Codes.
• Prior experience using pipe stress analysis program Bentley Auto Pi pe.
