Project Overview

Bechtel is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner on the Northrop Grumman team to deliver the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. Bechtel’s scope of service in Sentinel’s current Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase focuses on the ground infrastructure component of the program.

As a major contractor for the United States and allied governments, Bechtel has handled efforts such as chemical weapons demilitarization projects, missile-defense, infrastructure, base operations, procurement, and project management, and restoration and recovery spanning half a century.

Job Summary

This position is for a Senior Quality Engineer who will support the project engineering team to drive overall quality and alignment of execution strategy across different work-fronts and construction execution approaches. The position will be based in the Quality Engineering discipline and will include monitoring of alignment to project engineering procedures, reviewing of documents prior to delivery, and involvement with the project quality and corrective action programs.

The successful candidate must have strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills, the ability to work independently, proven problem-solving abilities, and a can‑do attitude.

Major Responsibilities
  • Coordinate job activities across different engineering work-fronts to ensure consistent approach and delivery
  • Obtain inputs and technical information from senior engineers across multiple disciplines for use in completing tasks
  • Review project engineering procedures to ensure alignment with Bechtel corporate and NS&E GBU procedures, contract requirements, and applicable codes and standards
  • Develop and present training on procedures, miscellaneous policies and instructions for engineering personnel
  • Identify, prepare, and report project engineering quality metrics and associated trends
  • Prepare and issue engineering quality reports
  • Present quality reports to Bechtel Management and customer personnel
  • Participate in project quality surveillances and audits
  • Coordinate Closed Loop Corrective Action (CLCA) program project initiatives with project engineering personnel
  • Attend Condition Report Review Committee (CRRC) meetings as the Engineering point of contact
  • Promote Condition Reporting and Lessons Learned programs, available in the Devon Way (or similar) application
  • Monitor timely closure of engineering condition reports and associated actions
  • Communicate quality issues to the engineering team in the form of positive feedback and lessons learned
  • Coordinate with client representatives, as required
  • Lead small engineering task group(s), as required
Education and Experience Requirements

Requires bachelor’s degree and 5‑8 years of relevant experience or 9‑12 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Security Clearance
  • Experience developing engineering work procedures to quality assurance programs such as NQA‑1 or AS9100D
  • Ability to analyze trends and implement solutions to drive continuous improvement
  • Extensive experience in a single engineering discipline and significant cross‑discipline coordination experience
  • Prior experience managing and implementing a closed‑loop corrective action system
  • Prior experience in engineering for construction projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 application suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, Power

    BI, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Experience in engineering procedure and/or instruction preparation
  • Preferred:
    Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense
  • Preferred: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or Six Sigma Green…
