Bechtel is the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction partner on the Northrop Grumman Sentinel Program, modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent. The role focuses on the ground infrastructure component during the Engineering & Manufacturing Development phase.
Job SummaryPerform pipe stress analysis using Auto Pipe. Coordinate with Pipe Support Engineers and layout personnel as required.
Major Responsibilities- Perform pipe stress analysis of systems in accordance with ASME B31.3 Code.
- Model piping systems to verify flexibility, stability, and equipment nozzle loads.
- Collaborate with layout personnel and pipe support engineers to deliver a quality and cost-effective design.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, vendors, and contractors as needed.
- Apply standard plant design and piping engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment for adaptations and modifications.
- Participate in reviews and recommend approval of design drawings and data for compliance with requirements.
- Analyze conflicting design requirements, sketch ideas, and propose solutions.
- Analyze and report on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques, and complex coordination requirements.
- Coordinate plant design engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, client, vendor, contractors, construction, and other functional groups.
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 10–13 years of relevant experience, or in lieu of a degree, 14–16 years of relevant work experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment, education, and travel.
- IT certification or PE registration preferred.
- Prior experience using pipe stress analysis program Bentley Auto Pipe.
- Working knowledge of dynamic analysis and ASME B31.3 or B31.1 Codes.
- Previous Bechtel and/or DOD/DOE project experience preferred.
