Position: Senior Structural Designer - 3076

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking a Senior Structural Designer (Tekla) in Ogden, UT
. Per diem is available for qualified candidates.

Job Summary

In this role you will support structural design, originating and checking complex steel and concrete designs, reviewing vendor information, and leading technical discussions and constructability reviews.

Major Responsibilities
  • Produce drawings and documentation for steel, concrete, reinforcing steel, cold‑formed steel, anchor bolts, and detailing.
  • Coordinate with engineers on day‑to‑day technical work.
  • Facilitate technical discussions with clients, suppliers, and regulators.
  • Coordinate with other project groups on structural design work.
  • Communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to upper management.
  • Ensure designs comply with all applicable codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Mentor junior designers and provide on‑the‑job training.
  • Work closely with other disciplines as an integrated team.
  • Develop concrete and steel structural designs, including seismic detailing.
  • Review existing conditions, as‑built drawings, and vendor information.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates, quantity take‑offs, proposals, forecasts, and change orders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and 8‑10 years of relevant experience, or 12‑14 years without a degree.
  • Ability to execute detailed design of complex steel and/or concrete structures.
  • Proficient in TEKLA software for detailing steel and reinforced concrete.
  • Knowledge of detailing manuals (ACI Detailing Manual, SPI‑66) and BIM.
  • Understanding of delivery documents and construction methods for concrete and steel.
  • Understanding of cross‑disciplinary project processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in office automation tools.
  • Broad knowledge of structural engineering design principles.
  • Must pass pre‑employment drug screen and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense.
  • Experience with USACE CAD Standards (ERDC/ITL TR‑19‑7).
  • Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and Whole Building Design Guide.
Other Requirements
  • Must be a United States Citizen.
