Job Description
  • A position has been declared open in the Weber School District for a Special Education School Counselor, Social Worker, or Board Certified Behavior Analyst. This position is for 8 hours per day, 190 days per year. All applicants must apply through Talent Ed. Files will be reviewed before interviews are scheduled.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Support students with social, emotional, behavioral, and physical disabilities in various settings.
  • Consult and support school staff in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA).
  • Consult, train, and support school staff in developing and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
  • Consult, train, and support district staff in developing and implementing data collection protocols for students with identified needs.
  • Provide individual and group counseling/guidance in areas related to skill development for student success.
  • Advocate on the student’s behalf.
  • Collaborate with teachers and the IEP team to develop effective support services for students.
  • Implement and support effective prevention and intervention strategies.
  • Administer and interpret social/behavioral assessments.
  • Collect data and record information for IEP meetings regarding eligibility, placement, and accommodations/supports.
  • Attend IEP meetings as necessary to review assessment results and consult when needed.
  • Assist in writing, implementing, and monitoring individual goals for students with behavioral services.
  • Provide staff development and training in social/emotional and behavior management techniques.
  • Confer with parents and build staff understanding of the counseling role.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Relate effectively to children with severe disabilities and diverse backgrounds.
  • Identify and work collaboratively with co-workers to solve issues as they arise.
  • Work cooperatively with all members of the IEP instructional team.
  • Utilize various computer programs (i.e., Windows, Microsoft Office, Excel, Google, etc).
  • Implement district and school policies regarding state and federal laws.
  • Process and maintain confidential files as required by law.
  • Maintain necessary records of assessment and progress to evaluate student learning.
  • Understand and follow both oral and written directions.
  • Work within an established schedule and meet necessary timelines.
  • Exercise good judgment in emergency situations.
  • Participate in a direct service or consultative role in crisis situations.
  • Collaborate with local community resource agencies to coordinate services.
  • Maintain flexibility regarding changes in staff or student programs.
  • Attend required district meetings and events.
  • Drive to school sites in the district.
  • Attend work consistently and demonstrate professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission.
  • Conform to district policies including attendance, absences, and evaluations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in Certified Social Work, Licensed Clinical Social Work, or School Counseling.
  • Current educator license in the State of Utah.
  • Previous experience in special education or related field preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License, operational vehicle, and insurance.

  • Mobility to reach and bend (neck and back).
  • Mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects.
  • Independent transportation throughout the Weber School District.
  • Mobility to maneuver through classroom and school environments independently.
  • Lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Pushing or pulling objects weighing up to 100 pounds (rare).
  • Implementation of non-violent crisis intervention techniques.
  • May require working with bio-hazards (blood borne pathogens, human waste, cleaning/disinfecting materials, etc).
