Paramedic

Job Summary

As a Paramedic at Ogden Regional Medical Center, you will provide critical emergency care for patients, support physicians and nurses, and maintain high standards of patient safety and quality. You will work the 12‑hour shifts on a mixed day‑and‑night schedule in the freestanding emergency department.

• Maintain clear communication with the attending physician and licensed nurse about all patient care issues.
• Assist with patient examinations or treatments and observe and report patients’ signs or symptoms.
• Take vital signs and record patient input and output.
• Attach oxygen and cardiac monitors; monitor patient cardiac rhythm, perform 12‑lead EKG, document EKG strips, suction patient airways, and report findings to the care team.
• Receive patients from EMS personnel and prepare patients for the physician’s care.
• Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed and perform basic laboratory procedures.
• Assist emergency department physicians with procedures such as central line insertions, lumbar punctures, defibrillation, cardioversion, chest tube insertion, thoracentesis, arterial lines, suturing, needle chest decompress ions, endotracheal and nasotracheal intubation, intra‑osseous lines, endotracheal suctioning, and airway management with oral/nasal devices.
• Perform CPR, defibrillation, cardioversion, and transcutaneous pacing during emergencies.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification obtained within 7 days of employment start date.
• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
• Valid Paramedic license.
• Advanced Vocational School graduate or equivalent experience.
