Job DescriptionThe Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides assistance to the occupational therapist in developing and implementing occupational therapy treatment, procedures, and related activities for direct patient care.
Primary Children’s Behavioral Health is excited to add a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to our multidisciplinary team to support our Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Day Treatment Programs.
This is an opportunity for a talented COTA passionate about behavioral health and adolescent care to join a program that seeks to support and improve the lives of struggling teens. Under the direction of a licensed OT, the COTA will support the therapeutic needs of our patients through leading groups, providing skilled milieu management, implementing individual treatment programming, and collaborating with team members.
Based at our Primary Children’s Summit Campus in Ogden, Utah, this is a Full‑Time position, Monday – Friday.
Essential Functions- Promotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and abides by service standards.
- Provides skilled occupational therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed occupational therapist, staying updated on standard practices for different patient groups and conducting treatments according to professional standards (AOTA).
- Meets established productivity standards for the department or service line.
- Keeps thorough and timely patient records as required by regulations and facility policies; completes patient billing accurately and promptly.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers about patient needs and goals, ensuring smooth operations and optimal use of rehabilitation services.
- Participates in and promotes continuing education opportunities for self and staff, seeking new learning opportunities according to licensure requirements.
- Engages in quality improvement processes, including safe equipment use, improving clinical outcomes, patient access, patient experience, and all aspects of the Intermountain Operating Model; participates in utilization review audits.

- Current Occupational Therapist Assistant license in the states where you work.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
- Basic Computer skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Possess skill sets and experience with target population of job setting.
- Current driver’s license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record.
- Ongoing need to see and read information, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require verbal communication and hearing and understanding spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, especially during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation and medication preparation.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients; bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights, including heavy items.
- Require walking and assisting with transporting/ambulating patients, obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment; includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, often under busy conditions.
