Job SummaryThis part‑time position assists faculty in the College of Science (COS) and the College of Engineering, Applied Science, and Technology (EAST) with ensuring their online course materials meet DOJ accessibility standards by the April 2026 deadline. Responsibilities include auditing websites and individual files such as PDFs and LaTeX documents to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 AA standards using provided toolkits.
A key focus is on remediating complex materials common in these colleges, such as digital figures, videos, equations, mathematical symbols, technical drawings, and non‑standard notation.
- AS or equivalent amount of relevant education or experience in IT or Web Design.
- Basic understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standards.
- Basic understanding of HTML and document remediation (e.g., for PDF and LaTeX files).
- Good customer service and communication skills for coordinating with faculty and WSU Online/IT staff.
- Ability to self‑manage and keep track of multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to work with complex materials, including mathematical symbols, technical drawings, and non‑standard notation.
- Domain knowledge in at least one of the technical areas:
Math, Physical Science, Life Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science. - Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) training or certification.
- Advanced HTML and CSS, and basic JavaScript/responsive web design knowledge.
- Previous experience with document remediation for complex technical content (e.g., equations, diagrams).
- Experience with specialized software and tools used for web and document accessibility.
- Previous experience with a content management system (experience with Weber State’s Site Manager is a plus).
