This part‑time position assists faculty in the College of Science (COS) and the College of Engineering, Applied Science, and Technology (EAST) with ensuring their online course materials meet DOJ accessibility standards by the April 2026 deadline. This involves auditing websites and individual files (e.g., .pdf and LaTeX documents) to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standards using provided toolkits.
A key focus is on remediating complex materials common in these colleges, such as digital figures, videos, equations, mathematical symbols, technical drawings, and non‑standard notation. Candidates must have a combination of web accessibility, HTML coding, and document/image accessibility knowledge, and may be asked to perform both low‑level and high‑level remediation. This job is a great opportunity to get experience in the field.
Days and hours are flexible to work around your schedule. You must be available to work 20‑29 hours per week.
Auditing websites and individual files to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards using provided toolkits. Remediating complex materials such as digital figures, videos, equations, mathematical symbols, technical drawings, and non‑standard notation. Performing both low‑ and high‑level remediation as needed.
Required Qualifications- Associate’s degree or equivalent amount of relevant education or experience in IT or web design.
- Basic understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standards.
- Basic understanding of HTML and document remediation (e.g., for PDF and LaTeX files).
- Good customer service and communication skills for coordinating with faculty and WSU Online/IT staff.
- Ability to self‑manage and keep track of multiple projects and deadlines.
- Ability to work with complex materials, including mathematical symbols, technical drawings, and non‑standard notation.
