Job Title: CNC/ Machinist

Location: Ogden, UT

Pay Rate: $25-33/HOUR DOE

Reporting To: Team Lead/Foreman

Position Responsibilities: Operation of various CNC and Manual precision machinery to produce quality parts that meet or exceed contract or client expectations.

Job Summary

As a CNC Machinist at HHI Corporation, you’ll play a critical role in producing complex, high-precision components for custom fabrication projects in defense, aerospace, and infrastructure. This role is ideal for self-motivated machinists who excel in dynamic environments and enjoy the challenge of unique, one-off parts. You’ll operate both CNC and manual machinery, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and uphold HHI’s quality and safety standards, including ISO 9001 and AISC compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Safely set-up and operate CNC machines – 3-axis machine centers (HAAS), Knee Mills, Lathes, and precision tools.
  • Operate various cutting, drilling, and milling tools including grinders, saws, and manual drills safely to complete assigned tasks.
  • Select appropriate cutting tools and understand specs and recommended speeds and feeds for use on various materials.
  • Maintain accurate and reliable documentation.
  • Report progress to team Lead.
  • Diligently follow manufacturing procedures while completing assigned tasks, including first article verifications.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks on CNC mills and lathes, including coolant level checks, filter cleaning, and lubrication systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams to design and implement effective work holding and part fixturing strategies to ensure stability, repeatability, and safety during machining.
  • Follow quality standards set to meet or exceed client quality expectations.
  • Select and properly align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
  • Maintain a safe and always clean workspace to encourage production efficiency.
  • Stay compliant with ISO 9001 & AISC standards.
  • Program jobs using G-Codes and Solid

    CAM or Solid Works CAM.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks.
Requirements
  • Must pass government security clearance standards including background checks.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen test if hired.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for several hours at a time.
  • Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors.
  • Open to travel if job requires it.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, work orders, work instructions, diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Strong skills in math, and be able to utilize fractions, Decimal, and metric systems in completing tasks. Expertise in using measuring devices including tape measures and precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to accurately measure and verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Willingness to work overtime when required.
  • Strong skills in problem solving and have great time management skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of tool selection, insert grades, coatings, and tool geometry for common and exotic materials (e.g., aluminum, stainless, alloys).
  • Demonstrated ability to select and optimize cutting parameters—including spindle speed, feed rate, and depth per pass—based on material type, tooling, machine capabilities, and desired surface finish. Must be proficient in adjusting these parameters to improve cycle time, tool life, and part quality.
Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Solid

    CAM or Solid Works CAM and programming on CNC. Familiar with DXF, Step, and similar types of files.
  • Certification from a vocational school in a related course.
  • 4+ years- machining in manufacturing
  • 2+ Years- operating CNC machines
  • 1 year- “Speeds and Feeds” and DPP (Depth Per Pass)
  • 4+ years- operating lathes and lathe tooling
