Growth Opportunity & Compensation

This is the Park’s first-ever development-focused director role, created to build and strengthen our fundraising and engagement infrastructure for the future. The Director will have a unique opportunity to shape systems, strategies, and partnerships from the ground up while working alongside an experienced and collaborative team.

As revenue streams expand, this role is expected to grow in scope and impact. Compensation includes a base salary with the opportunity for performance-based bonuses, with room for advancement as the organization continues to scale its development efforts.

Job Description

The Dinosaur Park in Ogden, Utah is seeking a collaborative, mission-driven Director of Development & Education to lead fundraising, advancement, and organizational engagement efforts. This is a newly created senior leadership role designed to support the Park’s next phase of growth and long-term sustainability.

The Director provides strategic leadership for development, donor stewardship, and community partnerships, while supporting and aligning a team of highly skilled professionals across development, education, and engagement. This role focuses on bringing out the best in experienced teams—creating clarity, cohesion, and momentum—while growing revenue through grants, events, and meaningful relationships.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and coordinate fundraising efforts across grants, donor stewardship, sponsor ships, and special events
  • Partner with staff and board to cultivate relationships that translate mission into sustainable support
  • Provide collaborative leadership and strategic oversight to a seasoned Education Department, empowering managers and educators to do their best work
  • Support and align engagement initiatives—including events, fundraisers, and community outreach—to advance revenue and mission goals
  • Work closely with communications and digital media teams to ensure consistent messaging that supports fundraising, attendance, and public engagement
  • Mentor and support event, digital media, and education leaders, fostering trust, accountability, and shared ownership of outcomes
  • Help teams set clear priorities and goals, while removing barriers and encouraging innovation
  • Represent the Park with donors, partners, and the broader community in a way that reflects its mission and values
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience as a collaborative leader in nonprofit development, advancement, or a related field
  • Track record of generating revenue through grants, events, sponsor ships, and/or donor stewardship
  • Proven ability to lead and support highly skilled, experienced teams, valuing expertise and shared leadership
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect authentically with donors, partners, and community stakeholders
  • Experience aligning development, engagement, and communications efforts to support organizational goals
  • Comfort working across departments and perspectives to move ideas into action
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with a strengths-based leadership approach
  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree a plus but not required
