Job Description Summary

The Imaging Services Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive support to all modalities within the Imaging Services Department. This role involves patient care management including patient assessment, education, and follow‑up, as well as provision of conscious sedation care and pharmacology management. The nurse also assists with basic interventional procedures and collaborates with the Radiologist.

About The Medical Imaging RN Role

As a Registered Nurse in Medical Imaging, you will be responsible for preparing patients for a variety of imaging procedures across different body parts (excluding the heart). This position requires a commitment to high‑quality care, utilizing evidence‑based practices and collaborating closely with the healthcare team. You may also rotate through sedation areas and assist with emergency procedures as needed.

  • Schedule:

    Monday through Friday 7AM–5:30PM – 10 hour shifts. Rotating on‑call requirements after hours, weekends/holidays.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high‑quality care to patients undergoing imaging procedures.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including Physicians and support staff, to coordinate patient care.
  • Monitor and evaluate patients before and after procedures, ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Educate patients about their procedures and address any questions or concerns.
  • Participate in on‑call rotations for emergency imaging procedures as required.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Pay Rate:
    Competitive salary based on experience.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current RN License in the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) and ACLS for healthcare providers.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution. (BSN required as of 4/27/2025.)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Critical Care Experience.
  • Understanding of basic x‑ray principles and practices.
Physical Requirements
  • Ongoing need to see and read information, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interaction with patients and visitors requiring verbal communication and rapid comprehension, especially during emergencies.
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate delicate equipment, frequent computer use, typing for documentation and medication preparation.
  • Capability to lift, transfer and move patients; lift items up to heavy weights.
  • Ability to walk, ambulate patients, push/pull stretchers, carry supplies.
  • May need to stand for extended periods wearing a lead apron (up to 15 lbs).
  • For roles requiring driving:
    Expected to drive a vehicle, reading signs and traffic signals.
