The position of Nutrition Service Worker was established for cooking, baking and preparing food items that meet mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and/or school personnel, and maintaining facilities in a safe and sanitary condition.

• Bakes one or more items to meet projected meal requirements.
• Carries frequently up to 25 pounds a distance of 6 feet (e.g., food, supplies and equipment) for stocking, storing, preparing and serving food and cleaning equipment.
• Checks students and staff through the food line to record purchases and collect monies.
• Cleans utensils, equipment, storage, food preparation and serving areas to maintain required sanitary conditions.
• Cook food prepared from scratch or from pre‑made items to meet mandated requirements and/or projected meal requirements.
• Inspects food items and supplies to verify quantity and specifications of orders and to comply with mandated health standards.
• Lifts occasionally up to 60 pounds to a height of 36 inches and frequently up to 25 pounds to a height of 62 inches and frequently up to 15 pounds to a height of 84 inches (e.g., food, supplies, equipment) for stocking, storing, preparing and serving food and cleaning equipment.
• Monitors kitchen and cafeteria areas to ensure a safe and sanitary working environment.
• Pushes, pulls or otherwise moves a wheeled appliance occasionally up to 75 pounds a distance of 36 inches, or a cart up to 50 pounds a distance of 10 feet (e.g., food, supplies and equipment) for stocking, storing, preparing and serving food and cleaning equipment.
• Reports equipment malfunctions to the unit manager to maintain equipment in safe working order.
• Responds to inquiries of students, staff and the public to provide information and/or direction regarding the type and/or cost of meals.
• Serves one or more items of food to meet mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel.
• Stocks food, condiments and supplies to maintain adequate quantities and security of items.
• Attendance is an essential function of this position. Physical presence at the worksite is required for in‑person collaboration, direct interaction with team members, other staff, students, and/or guardians, and access to on‑site equipment and resources.

• Assists other personnel as may be required to support them in completing their work activities.

• Knowledge of quantity cooking, safety practices and procedures, basic computer usage, safe usage of food preparation equipment, and health standards and hazards.
• Current Food Handler’s permit from the Health Department.
• Ability to adapt to changing work priorities, meet deadlines and schedules, work as part of a team, and work with school‑age children.
• Physical ability assessment will be required for the position.
• Attendance to work is an essential function.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
