Counter Sales Service Associates must have exceptional knowledge of new and existing products and inventory. They handle counter sales, assist with receiving, shipping, and general warehouse duties, maintain records, and complete transactions and necessary paperwork accurately and promptly.
Work ScheduleMonday – Friday, 40 hours per week between 8am – 5pm.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Answer incoming telephone calls and greet customers; handle multiple requests simultaneously.
- Assist customers with product selections by asking questions and listening to identify needs.
- Provide system or product troubleshooting and answer technical questions.
- Identify alternate or substitute products to meet customer needs.
- Research and source products using POS computer systems, catalogs, websites, JXI, and industry contacts.
- Enter sales orders into a POS computer system for invoicing or cash payments.
- Process customer returns and warranties following company guidelines.
- Follow up on all customer requests for information, quotes, alternative parts, and delivery dates.
- Proactively communicate with customers about expected delays or issues with orders.
- Develop working relationships and rapport with customers; greet regulars by name.
- Maintain highest standards in cleanliness and appearance of showroom through stocking shelves, housekeeping, creating displays, etc.
- Resolve customer complaints and disputes in a timely, professional manner balancing customer requests with business needs.
- Drive to the customer location with a company vehicle and replenish bin stock.
- Follow company pricing and credit guidelines.
- Prepare and issue sales quotes following company guidelines.
- Educate customers/prospects on product variety and benefits of shopping at Johnstone Supply.
- Recommend additional items or promotions to increase satisfaction and profitability.
- Promote surplus, sale, discounted, and obsolete inventory to maintain proper inventory levels.
- Communicate unexpected demand or inventory changes to purchasing or management.
- Maintain knowledge of new and existing products via training, catalog study, etc.
- Assist in receiving, shipping, general warehouse duties.
- Organize and maintain appropriate records.
- Complete all transactions and necessary paperwork accurately and promptly.
- High school diploma or GED and minimum two years of related experience/training in HVAC/R industry.
- 1‑3 years of experience as a sales and service associate.
- Current valid driver’s license.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Typing speed 30‑50 wpm, operate computer, use 10 keys or calculator.
- Organized and able to prioritize work, meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks.
- Good written and verbal communication, listening skills.
- Forklift experience preferred.
