FT - Maintenance Technician II - Water Utility Division
Join Ogden City’s Public Services team as a full‑time Maintenance Technician II in the Water Utility Division. This role focuses on construction, maintenance, and operation of the city’s water distribution system.
Essential Job Functions- Lay, repair, and maintain pipelines and associated system components; work with SCADA, meters, and other electronic equipment.
- Operate construction and maintenance equipment such as dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, and hand tools.
- Install street barricades, control traffic, and ensure safety during street repair activities.
- Respond to public inquiries, resolve complaints, and provide information within the assignment area.
- Perform snow removal and ice control duties as required.
- Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water mains, fire hydrants, valves, detectors, and backflow prevention devices.
- Flush main water lines and hydrants as necessary.
- Maintain accurate computer‑generated reports and records of work performed.
- Participate in safety and risk‑management activities to reduce liability.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of general experience in construction operations, construction equipment operation, or utility maintenance; water‑system maintenance experience preferred.
- Combination of experience and education that provides the required knowledge and abilities may qualify.
- Class B CDL license within 150 days of appointment.
- Grade IV Water Distribution certificate within 6 months.
- Complete NIMS IS100, IS200, IS700, and IS800 training within 1 year of hire.
- Understanding of water distribution equipment, maintenance procedures, and safety practices.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment and hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for interacting with the public and team members.
- Capacity to work in adverse weather and physically demanding conditions, including standing or walking for long periods.
- Proficiency in basic arithmetic, computer use, and record‑keeping.
