Campus Recreation Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety of participants utilizing the Swenson pool on the WSU campus. The Lifeguard provides quality customer service to aquatic participants and serves as a resource for department and program information.

• Scanning and patrolling pool areas for safety
• Providing care in the case of an emergency or injury
• Enforcing facility and program policies
• Providing feedback to participants
• Encouraging participation in department programs (e.g., incentive programs to promote exercise adherence)
• Providing solid communication to supervisor and co-workers
• Providing daily upkeep and maintenance of office and pool facilities
• Being a supportive team player

This position reports to the Aquatics Manager.

Note:

This is a pooled position. Applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available. The pool will expire after a period of time, and applicants will be notified.

American Red Cross Lifeguarding/CPR and AED for the Professional Rescuer/First Aid are required prior to working the first shift.

Must possess excellent interpersonal communication and relational service skills.

High School diploma.

Prefer previous lifeguarding experience. Prefer work‑study candidates.

Criminal background check required as a condition of employment.
