Library Assistant Specialist – Felicity Branch
We are looking for an enthusiastic and service‑oriented individual to join our team at the Felicity Branch. This part‑time position focuses on delivering outstanding service to guests of all ages, including assistance with circulation, reference, technology, collection maintenance, outreach support, and operational tasks that ensure our branch runs smoothly.
Requirements include evening and weekend availability, strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to excellent customer service, and a willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment. Reliable transportation and the ability to perform physical tasks, such as shelving and organizing, are necessary.
Responsibilities- Interact directly with library users of all ages at the circulation and reference desks.
- Use the library automated circulation system to circulate materials and perform a variety of clerical tasks.
- Answer library users’ reference and reader’s advisory questions in person and on the telephone, using materials in a variety of formats.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the materials collections, services, and trends in library services.
- Shelve materials as necessary.
- High school diploma with three years of relevant experience.
- Skilled in using technology, computers, and software applications, including Microsoft Office products, and troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Familiar with electronic resources to aid in reference, reader’s advisory assistance, programming, statistical reports, and communication.
- Learn new skills as they develop or are implemented.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
- Establish and maintain an excellent working relationship with library staff, volunteers, and patrons, respecting diversity and all ages.
- Applicant must also be able to pass a background check.
- Monday: 10:00 AM–8:00 PM
- Tuesday: 12:00 PM–8:00 PM
- Wednesday–Thursday: 10:00 AM–6:00 PM
- Friday–Saturday: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
