Overview
Ethos Energy is currently seeking a Solar Technician for our facility in Quincy, OH. We are looking for a skilled and motivated individual to join our operations team in the Quincy, Ohio area. The Solar Technician is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of the solar facility. Core duties include conducting regular inspections of equipment, facilities, safety systems, and environmental conditions, as well as performing or coordinating all manufacturer‑recommended preventive maintenance activities.
This role also involves troubleshooting and repairing site equipment as issues arise to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance. Key areas of accountability include safety compliance, maintenance scheduling, and effective resolution of technical issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of environmental regulations related to solar operations and familiarity with NERC requirements and industry standards.
Job Responsibilities- Safety and Compliance: As a Solar Technician, you’ll play a key role in keeping the site operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all company and regulatory standards. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Promote and uphold the company’s safety culture by following all safety policies and encouraging safe practices among all onsite personnel and contractors.
- Complete pre‑job briefs and required safety documentation before starting any task.
- Support all NERC, environmental, and corporate compliance requirements, including daily, monthly, bi‑annual, and annual reporting.
- Ensure all waste handling and disposal complies with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Operations and Maintenance: Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain solar facility equipment including inverters, transformers, and balance‑of‑plant systems.
- Plan and schedule both corrective and preventive maintenance activities with the Solar Manager.
- Coordinate major maintenance activities to minimize downtime and revenue loss.
- Execute daily site monitoring and respond promptly to alarms or production issues.
- Administration and Reporting: Accurately record all work performed in the company’s CMMS platform.
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and monthly operational reports, including availability and production data.
- Participate in remote weekend monitoring rotations for self‑operated sites.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with internal departments to share site data, support projects, and resolve issues.
- Communicate as needed with external agencies, contractors, and landowners.
- Assist with the initiation and follow‑up of insurance claims related to site operations.

Skills: - Electrical and Mechanical Aptitude:
Ability to troubleshoot and repair inverters, transformers, and related solar balance‑of‑plant (BOP) systems. Understanding of AC/DC systems, low- and medium‑voltage power, and basic control circuits. - Preventive and Corrective Maintenance:
Skilled in executing and documenting scheduled maintenance tasks per OEM and site requirements. - SCADA / CMMS Proficiency:
Familiar with using SCADA systems for real‑time site monitoring and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for work order documentation. - Instrumentation & Monitoring:
Competence in reading electrical schematics, interpreting alarms, and performing diagnostics using tools such as multimeters, IR cameras, or insulation resistance testers. - Environmental and NERC Compliance:
Working knowledge of regulatory requirements around waste management, NERC reporting, and environmental inspections. - Safety and Compliance
Skills: - LOTO and Electrical Safety:
Demonstrated understanding of OSHA 1910 and NFPA 70E standards. - Job Hazard Analysis (JHA):
Ability to conduct pre‑job briefs and identify site hazards before starting work. - SPCC / Environmental Awareness:
Understanding of spill prevention, stormwater, and waste handling procedures. - Analytical and Reporting
Skills: - Data Interpretation:
Ability to review SCADA trends, production reports, and inverter logs to identify performance deviations. - Budget and Reporting:
