Senior Mechanical Engineer – Custom Automation

At Sterling Engineering we’re seeking a senior mechanical engineer to lead the design of high‑precision, custom automation systems. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys taking machines from concept through build and commissioning.

Base pay range: $55.00/hr – $60.00/hr (or $50–60/hr for contract).

Lewis Center, OH (100% onsite).

• Lead mechanical design of automated machinery using Solid Works.
• Develop concepts, models, drawings, and manufacturing‑ready documentation.
• Collaborate with controls, electrical, and manufacturing teams.
• Perform engineering analysis (GD&T, tolerances, materials, stress).
• Support build, debug, and commissioning with hands‑on problem solving.
• Mentor junior engineers and improve design standards.

• 5+ years of mechanical design experience in custom automation or special machinery.
• Strong Solid Works expertise and project leadership experience.
• Deep knowledge of mechanisms, pneumatics, machining, and fabrication.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
