Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant

On behalf of our client, we are recruiting for a Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant.
Our client is a leading provider of consulting and engineering services, supporting projects across water, environmental management, sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy, and international development. They have secured a significant pipeline of brownfield regeneration, ground investigation, and hydrogeological projects and are now seeking an experienced Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant to join their expanding team.
This role involves delivering high-quality technical work across a wide range of sectors, contributing to both field and office-based project activities. You will work closely with clients and internal stakeholders, bring strong technical expertise, and support the continued growth of the environmental services division.
The position offers a blend of site-based work (approximately 50%) and office-based responsibilities (approximately 50%), with flexibility depending on project demands.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, manage, and supervise ground investigation works, including groundwater and ground gas monitoring.
- Produce and review Phase 1 desk studies with preliminary risk assessments.
- Prepare Phase 2 interpretative reports, including qualitative and quantitative risk assessments.
- Liaise directly with clients, regulators, and project stakeholders.
- Interpret geological, hydrogeological, geotechnical, and environmental data.
- Apply current contaminated land technical guidance and understand relevant planning regulations.
- Review and interpret factual and interpretive geotechnical reports.
- Ensure compliance with HSE, environmental management, and site safety standards.
- Support business development activities as required.
- Prepare clear, concise, and robust technical reports to a high professional standard.
- Participate in project planning, scheduling, and delivery activities.
- Support junior staff and contribute to team knowledge-sharing.
Essential
- Degree in geology, engineering geology, hydrogeology, or a relevant environmental science discipline.
- 5
-10 years consultancy experience delivering ground investigation projects. - Experience planning, supervising, and managing ground investigation works.
- Strong understanding of contaminated land guidance and planning regimes.
- Ability to produce Phase 1 and Phase 2 geo-environmental reports, including qualitative and quantitative risk assessments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Fully IT literate with strong technical report-writing capability.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental management.
- Full clean driving licence (or equivalent).
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative teamwork skills.
- Masters degree in a relevant discipline.
- Progress toward Chartership (CIWEM, IEMA, Geological Society or equivalent).
- Experience preparing and reviewing geotechnical reports.
- Site accreditations such as SMSTS, SSSTS, CSCS.
- Technical specialisation in a relevant environmental or geotechnical field.
- Proven ability to support business development and client engagement activities.
