Role Overview

We are seeking Project Engineers, from Senior to Principal levels, to provide engineering leadership for a growing portfolio of generation projects. This role focuses on new-build natural gas power plants. The Project Engineer will act as the engineering lead, coordinating design reviews, resolving cross-disciplinary issues, managing RFIs, and ensuring EPC contractors meet established standards. This position emphasizes leadership, communication, and project coordination over deep technical expertise in a single discipline.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering efforts for large generation capital projects.
  • Coordinate civil, mechanical, electrical, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Develop and manage engineering work plans.
  • Lead engineering design review activities and ensure EPC contractors adhere to standards.
  • Review engineering deliverables, identify issues, and drive resolution.
  • Manage Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Lead regular engineering meetings and communicate project status to leadership and project teams.
  • Interface with EPC contractors, OEMs, regulators, and internal teams.
  • Support construction and commissioning activities, including site travel.
  • Monitor safety, cost, schedule, and technical risks.
Required Qualifications

Education: An ABET-accredited engineering degree is required. Preferred disciplines include Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.

Experience: Experience leading engineering efforts on capital projects and working with EPCs or major project stakeholders is required. Candidates should have experience coordinating multiple engineering disciplines.

  • Senior Engineer:
Typically requires 4+ years of experience with an engineering degree, or 2+ years with a Master's or PhD.
  • Principal Engineer:
Typically requires 8+ years of experience with an engineering degree, or 6+ years with a Master's or PhD.

Skills: Candidates must demonstrate strong communication, meeting facilitation, and cross-functional leadership skills. The ability to present complex issues to executive leadership is essential.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in power generation, particularly with natural gas or combined cycle (CCGT) plants.
  • Previous experience in the utility industry.
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred for Senior level and strongly preferred for Principal level.
  • Experience supporting construction and commissioning phases of projects.
