Commercial Alliance provides a comprehensive suite of lending services designed to help credit unions succeed with business members across six states. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self‑motivated professional to assist with our Commercial Credit Portfolio department.

Summary

The Commercial Portfolio Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight, risk management, and performance optimization of the company's multibillion‑dollar commercial portfolio. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial credit, market dynamics, and regulatory compliance. The Commercial Portfolio Manager will lead a team of loan review/portfolio analysts, serving as the ultimate authority on portfolio health, identifying potential risks, and driving initiatives to maximize return on assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the overall strategy for managing the commercial portfolio to achieve targeted metrics.
  • Analyze macro‑economic trends and market factors to proactively adjust portfolio strategy and exposure limits.
  • Present detailed portfolio performance reports, including variances, trends, and projections, to executive leadership and credit committees.
  • Ensure document collection requirements are met, including escalation process when borrowers or lenders are not meeting requirements.
  • Oversee continuous monitoring and analysis of portfolio credit risk, concentration risk, and asset classification.
  • Lead the identification of early warning signs and partner with the SAG manager on workout/restructuring strategies for problem loans and troubled assets.
  • Ensure rigorous compliance with all internal credit policies, federal and state regulations (NCUA, DIFS, SBA, etc.).
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of loan review/portfolio analysts, fostering a high‑performance, risk‑aware culture.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the team.

    Collaborate cross‑functionally with Sales/Origination, Underwriting, Legal, and Finance departments to ensure seamless execution of portfolio strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance portfolio management processes, reporting efficiency, and technological capabilities.
  • Drive the implementation of new analytical tools and risk models to improve forecasting and decision‑making.
Qualifications Required Skills & Abilities
  • Deep expertise in commercial credit underwriting, financial statement analysis, legal documentation, and loan structuring.
  • Proven experience managing and developing a team of professionals.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, and portfolio management/credit analysis software.
Education & Experience
  • Education:

    Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience:

    Minimum of 8+ years of progressive experience in commercial banking, credit risk management, portfolio management, or commercial lending.
Preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to drive large‑scale, cross‑functional projects.
