Position OverviewThe Payroll / Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the administration and processing of the company’s payroll and supporting financial reporting, budgeting and analysis functions. This role ensures employees are paid accurately and timely, while also providing data driven insights that support financial planning and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist in processing payroll for all employees, including collecting and reviewing timesheets, calculating hours worked, and ensuring accurate calculation of wages, overtime, and deductions.
- Provide backup support:
Serve as a backup resource for primary payroll personnel, performing their duties during absences, vacation, or peak workload periods. - Generate payroll reports and assist with audits and/or compliance reviews.
- Assist with PTO tracking and processing.
- Assist with Awardco (rewards & recognition program) redemption processing for tax purposes.
- Maintain confidentiality of all payroll and employee data.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements. Analyze financial data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to accounting principles. Ensure financial statements are properly stated and provide insights for decision‑making. - Month‑End Closing:
Execute month‑end closing activities, including but not limited to accruals, energy entries, production entries, inventory adjustments, depletion, royalties, and other necessary journal entries. - Budgeting & Forecasting:
Support the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and objectives. - Data Analysis & Reporting:
Compile and analyze financial data from various sources using tools such as Excel, Hyperion, and Essbase, presenting insights in a clear and actionable format. - Assist with US GAAP.
- Reconcile bank statements and report discrepancy problems.
- Assist in ongoing process improvement and automation.
- Assist with debt statement allocation entries and balancing.
- Cross‑train with other Corporate Staff for coverage as needed.
Other Requirements:
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co‑workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
- Strict adherence to Sarbanes‑Oxley and GAAP rules.
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
- Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
- Strict adherence to Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co‑workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Shelly Company employees. Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; or 2‑5 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language
Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively to exchange ideas and understand instructions.
Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
