Eligible candidates who have completed the police academy and meet Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certification requirements are eligible for a $5,000 signing bonus. The bonus is paid after successfully completing the probationary period and requires a two-year employment commitment following probation.

• New OPOTA-Certified Police Officer: $70,200 annually.

• 66 sworn officers, responding to over 30,000 service calls annually.
• Specialized units including investigations, school officers, K9 teams, bike patrol, SWAT, and a regional drug task force.

Age:

• Minimum: 21 years by the exam date.
• Maximum: 35 years at the time of original appointment unless prior service in the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund or equivalent transferable law enforcement service exists.

Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required.

Education:

High school diploma or GED. Associate degree in Criminal Justice or OPOTA certification preferred.

Driver’s License:
Valid Ohio driver's license required.

Vision:
Corrected to 20/20.

Language:
Proficiency in English required.

Preferred but not required. If hired without certification, the City will cover academy costs, and the officer will be paid $3 less per hour during training.
