Position Title:Police Officer Signing Bonus
Eligible candidates who have completed the police academy and meet Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certification requirements are eligible for a $5,000 signing bonus. The bonus is paid after successfully completing the probationary period and requires a two-year employment commitment following probation.
Salary Information- New OPOTA-Certified Police Officer: $70,200 annually.

Experience:
$76,876 annually. - With Two Years of
Experience:
$83,304 annually. - With Three Years of
Experience:
$90,334 annually.
- 66 sworn officers, responding to over 30,000 service calls annually.
- Specialized units including investigations, school officers, K9 teams, bike patrol, SWAT, and a regional drug task force.
- A civilian workforce providing support services.
- The department operates out of a modern facility and enjoys strong community support.
- Location:
Fairfield, Ohio, in Butler County, approximately 20 miles north of Cincinnati. - Population: 44,000 residents.
- Accessibility:
Situated along the northern loop of I-275 with convenient access to recreational, cultural, and business areas.
Age:
- Minimum: 21 years by the exam date.
- Maximum: 35 years at the time of original appointment unless prior service in the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund or equivalent transferable law enforcement service exists.
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required.
Education:
High school diploma or GED. Associate degree in Criminal Justice or OPOTA certification preferred.
Driver’s License:
Valid Ohio driver's license required.
Vision:
Corrected to 20/20.
Language:
Proficiency in English required.
Preferred but not required. If hired without certification, the City will cover academy costs, and the officer will be paid $3 less per hour during training.
