Position: Economic Policy Trainee (m/f/d)

Economic Policy Trainee (m/f/d)

ZOE Institute for Future‑Fit Economies, an independent think &do tank active in Germany and Brussels, seeks a trainee to support policy and research on a green and just transition.

Location & Duration

Brussels/Remote | February – July 2026 | 38 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Background research and analysis on various economic policy topics.
  • Drafting content for reports, policy briefs and other publications.
  • Preparation of presentations and key documents.
  • Preparing briefings for stakeholder meetings.
  • Monitoring current economic policy events and debates.
  • Organizing events (physical and online).
  • Supporting the Economics of a Green and Just Transition team.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in economics, political economy, European studies or public policy.
  • Interest in economic policy topics such as fiscal and industrial policy.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strategic mindset.
  • Excellent command of English, oral and written.

Additional competencies (not required): knowledge of EU legislative processes, qualitative research skills, Brussels‑based, German‑speaking.

Benefits & Conditions3>

Full‑time (38 hours per week) for 6 months, starting February 2026. Possibility to work remotely from Germany, the Netherlands or Belgium or from our offices in Cologne, Berlin and Brussels.

Gross monthly salary for full‑time 2289 euros, prorated for fewer hours. 30 holiday days per calendar year, plus additional days off for volunteering and reimbursement for public transportation.
