Overview
The HR Manager is responsible for leading all human resources functions to support a fast-paced logistics and trucking operation. This role oversees recruitment, compliance, employee relations, safety programs, and workforce planning to ensure the company maintains a reliable, well-trained, and compliant driver and administrative workforce.
Recruitment & Staffing- Lead full‑cycle recruitment for drivers, dispatchers, warehouse staff, and corporate roles.
- Maintain a consistent pipeline of qualified CDL and non‑CDL candidates.
- Oversee pre‑hire processes including background checks, MVR reviews, drug screenings, and DOT compliance.
- Partner with operations leadership to forecast staffing needs and reduce turnover.
- Serve as the primary HR contact for employee concerns, conflict resolution, and performance issues.
- Support managers with coaching, feedback, and corrective action plans.
- Drive employee engagement initiatives to promote retention and strong workplace culture.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and state/local employment laws.
- Maintain driver qualification files (DQFs) and conduct regular audits.
- Work closely with Safety to support accident reporting, return‑to‑work programs, and safety training initiatives.
- Oversee payroll coordination, benefits administration, and HRIS management.
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure timely updates.
- Lead new‑hire orientation and onboarding to ensure smooth integration into company operations.
- Support annual performance reviews, compensation adjustments, and policy development.
- Identify skill or compliance gaps and coordinate appropriate training programs.
- Develop resources for management training, leadership development, and DOT‑compliant driver education.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 3-5+ years of HR experience.
- Working knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations.
- Strong communication, problem‑solving, and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
The salary range for this role is $70,000–$90,000 per year. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and can participate in medical, dental, vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
