Postdoctoral Researcher Position in Data Infrastructures, Germany for Fellowship
Heidelberg University is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Data Infrastructures to join the Med Gov research group starting in spring 2026. The position focuses on the governance of emerging technologies in medical research and healthcare, with responsibilities in data protection law, scientific coordination, and project development.
Eligible candidates must hold a completed university degree and a doctorate in a humanities-related field, along with strong experience in data protection–compliant processing of health data. Applicants should have at least three years of project-based practical experience, solid organizational and research skills, and a willingness to work with new IT infrastructure models.

Acceptable Course or Subjects: The position supports research in data protection law, technical-legal governance, data infrastructures, medical research governance, and related interdisciplinary fields offered by Heidelberg University.
Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Completed university degree and a doctorate in a humanities discipline.
- At least three years of practical, project-related experience in data protection–compliant processing of health data and managing legal challenges of national/international data infrastructures.
- Experience or interest in technical data protection is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability in coordinating scientific publications and supervising research staff.
- Strong organizational skills, structured work approach, and willingness to engage with new IT infrastructure models.
- Excellent command of English;
German is advantageous but not mandatory.
Full-time employment (39.5 hours/week) under the TV-L collective agreement.
Initial one-year contract with the possibility of extension.
