Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Developer to support and enhance our core business applications. The ideal candidate will have expertise in COBOL, DB2, JCL, Teradata, and SAS and will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and modernizing our mainframe systems while ensuring seamless integration with cloud and open systems.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, Teradata, and SAS.
- Perform database design, development, and optimization in DB2 and Teradata.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to mainframe batch jobs and real-time processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mainframe applications with modern cloud platforms and APIs.
- Participate in code reviews, performance tuning, and application optimization.
- Develop and maintain job scheduling and automation scripts using JCL and Control-M.
- Support data extraction, transformation, and reporting processes using SAS.
- Assist in the transition and migration of legacy applications to cloud-based environments.
- Document technical specifications, procedures, and best practices.
- 5+ years of experience in mainframe development, including COBOL, JCL, DB2, Teradata, and SAS.
- Strong expertise in database programming and query optimization in DB2 and Teradata.
- Experience with job scheduling tools like Control-M.
- Hands-on experience with debugging and performance tuning tools such as Xpediter and File-AID.
- Knowledge of APIs and mainframe integration with modern applications.
- Experience in cloud migration strategies for mainframe applications is a plus.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and Dev Ops best practices.
- Experience working with insurance/financial services organizations.
- Knowledge of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for cloud migration initiatives.
- Exposure to modernization tools for refactoring mainframe applications.
- Experience in leading and mentoring junior developers.
