Pacific Justice Institute (PJI) has immediate openings across the US for full and part time Staff Attorneys. PJI is the leading faith-based non-profit organization across the country, with 36 offices strategically placed coast to coast to serve 26 states, providing legal representation to clients—without charge—in defense of religious freedom, parental rights, the sanctity of life, and other civil liberties. PJI handles thousands of requests for assistance annually and has empowered individuals, families, and ministries through major case victories and media coverage on its syndicated daily TV show, radio show, and :60 commentary heard on over 1,000 stations nationwide.

Purpose of the Position

The role of the Staff Attorney is to strengthen the mission of PJI by serving, defending and providing resources and direction related to religious freedoms in their respective state demographics.

Responsibilities
  • Receive, review and evaluate potential clients and their cases
  • Conduct research, interview clients and witnesses
  • Prepare and respond to written discovery; conduct and defend depositions
  • Represent clients in court, and before administrative agencies of government; interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
  • Work with other PJI attorneys on various legal matters from time to time
  • Engage in donor development, which includes media appearances and speaking engagements to further PJI’s mission
  • Interact with media regarding cases and issues
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency in: Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Gmail, etc.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and proven project management skills
  • Proven customer service and excellent interpersonal skills
Ability
  • Professionally handle confidential information
  • Work, motivate, and initiate within a team
  • Prioritize and achieve deadline goals
Education and/or experience
  • Bachelor’s degree: J.D., licensed to practice law in a relevant geographic location
