Purpose of PositionThe Mechanical Quality Inspector plays a key role in maintaining our commitment to quality and safety. This position is responsible for performing inspections and testing at various stages of the production process to ensure products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities- Perform in-process and final inspections on production floor and completed units
- Conduct quality checks as assigned, including in-process inspections, final product inspections, gauge sign‑in/out for production use
- Assist in customer‑required testing procedures (sound testing, water testing, operational/run testing)
- Support production by addressing engineering and customer‑related quality concerns
- Maintain inventory of quality‑related materials (e.g., tags, zip ties, documentation)
- Use and maintain measuring tools and inspection instruments
- Ensure compliance with internal quality procedures and safety standards
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager or their designer
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum Years of Experience0-2 years
Education & Experience / Specific Qualifications- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications
- Strong attention to detail and visual acuity
- Understanding of quality assurance and control processes
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when needed
- Proficiency with basic measurement tools (calipers, tape measures, etc.)
- Experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Planner
- Background in welding, sheet metal, or mechanical systems (preferred but not required)
- Experience with quality auditing procedures
- Ability to accurately read and interpret a tape measure (test required)
- Work on your feet for extended periods while conducting inspections on the production floor and completed houses
- Handle small tools, gauges, and equipment for inspection tasks, including signing in/out of gauges and point-to-point testing
- Lift and carry items related to Quality Assurance materials that may weigh up to 25 lbs. or more
- Occasional climbing or stairs to inspect houses or areas of the production floor that are not at ground level
- Bend, stoop, or kneel to assess products or components at various stages
- Work in a factory or production environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and industrial conditions
- Perform repetitive tasks requiring consistent hand‑eye coordination
- Maintain focus and attention to detail in noisy or busy environments
- Communicate issues or concerns verbally and in writing with production personnel and management
- Work in various conditions, including indoor and outdoor environments, exposure to dust, dirt, heat, cold, and occasionally at heights or in confined spaces
