Press Operator Job Description

The Press Operator role at Molding Dynamics runs the plastic injection molding machines and prepares the finished plastic parts for packaging.

The press operator is vital to the success of plastic molding objectives. The press operator is responsible for managing the molding machine, inspecting parts, following safety procedures, and more.

As a press operator, your responsibilities may include:

• Take parts from a molding machine, either by opening the door and retrieving parts from the mold face, or by retrieving them from the drop bin.
• Visually inspect parts for conformance to standards for that particular part. There may also be a need to measure, trim, fixture, bend, fold, assemble, gauge or other requirement to finish the part before it can be packaged.
• Complete forms, checklists, reports, and labels that need data entered.
• Follow all procedures, and safety rules.
• Frequently communicate with the shift Supervisor and Quality Technician when any issues arise with the part, molding machine, or other equipment they are tending.
• Responsible for the tools issued for the job that is running at the press they are assigned to.
• Keep work area clean - scrap parts and runners should be ground.
• Perform relief duties or other duties as required.

Ability to follow instructions

• Must be able to lift 35lbs
• Required to use basic hand tools (cutters, knives, trimmers, tape guns)
• Must be able to bend, reach and stoop frequently during working hours
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
