NAES is seeking an experienced Control Room Operator to oversee the safe and efficient operation of a dual-fueled fired peaking facility in Ohio. The Control Room Operator will be responsible for managing plant equipment from within the control room, ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment during start-up, operation, and shutdown procedures. This role also involves providing input on operational and maintenance activities, plant improvement projects, and compliance with contract obligations.
The Control Room Operator will work closely with plant management to maintain performance, safety standards, and operational efficiency.
- Operate and monitor plant equipment, systems, breakers, and auxiliaries from the control room to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Execute plant start-ups, shutdowns, and load changes in accordance with approved procedures and dispatch instructions.
- Coordinate with the Load Dispatcher to maintain required output and operating parameters.
- Monitor, trend, and adjust plant operating data to maintain reliability, efficiency, and compliance.
- Identify abnormal operating conditions, diagnose issues, and take corrective action to restore safe plant operation.
- Direct and support field operators during equipment isolations, LOTO activities, and maintenance coordination.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems within a power generation facility.
- Proven ability to make sound decisions under pressure, including during emergency and abnormal operating conditions.
- Ability to read and interpret plant procedures, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- 5+ years of power plant operations experience required.
