Must be currently enrolled in an AVMA-Accredited Veterinary College and pursuing a career in Bovine Medicine or Reproduction.
Position SummaryST genetics Ohio Heifer Center (STOHC) is looking for two individuals who are interested in developing and expanding their knowledge in bovine veterinary medicine. With access to close to 5,000 animals of calves up to lactating cows, students will be able to practice various skills such as pregnancy confirmation via ultrasound, calf health diagnosis and treatment, calving assistance, and more. Veterinary interns will spend their time rotating between the Embryo Transfer (ET)/In-vitro Fertilization (IVF) department, Veterinary Services, and the Maternity department.

- Follow calf health protocols, including colostrum management, basic husbandry and nutrition, biosecurity, vaccinations, etc.
- Monitor cows that are in labor and assist when appropriate.
- Learn and participate in protocol for embryo transfer procedures.
- Become familiar with common diseases in dairy calves, along with therapeutic modalities and treatment protocols.
- Become familiar with the various calf housing options and the pros/cons of each.
- Working hours will be 40‑60 hours a week, with rotating weekend shifts.
- At least basic knowledge of cattle care and husbandry is required.
- Able to work as a team to accomplish a task or project.
- Self‑directed and able to work without supervision.
- Energetic and eager to tackle new projects and ideas.
- Cattle handling knowledge recommended.
- Knowledge of herd management software recommended but not required.
