Veterinary Student Externship – Niles Veterinary Clinic
Niles Veterinary Clinic is a modern, AAHA accredited, four-veterinarian practice that provides high quality full-service care for dogs, cats, and pocket pets. We are dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and client service. We believe that education of our doctors, staff, and clients is the key to creating individualized veterinary healthcare for our patients. We are a close group; we work hard together and have fun together.
We offer staff engagement activities and all of the doctors are very close in collaboration and helping each other as cases arise.
Students who are looking to become veterinarians and are in school will work closely with the supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at Niles Veterinary Clinic are designed for 4th year veterinary students.
Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. to view list of stipend amounts and HERE for details on the stipend program.
