What will I be doing?

As an Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) participant, you will join a community of scientists and researchers in an effort to explore the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance medical decision‑making for medics operating in challenging and remote environments. The core of the project involves integrating LLMs with established guided protocols, such as the Independent Duty Medical Technician (IDMT) Handbook, Pararescue Handbook, and Joint Trauma System Clinical Practice Guidelines (JTS CPGs).

A key focus will be on enabling seamless interaction with the model, whether the device is online or offline, to ensure reliability in disconnected settings.
