Assistant Supervisor – Napoli's Pizza

This position supports restaurant operations and alcoholic beverage management, ensuring an exceptional dining experience for all guests, including dine‑in, carry‑out, delivery, catering and event customers. The role trains service staff, maintains a clean and safe environment, and assists with food and beverage management, costs, pricing, and profitability. Additionally, the Assistant Supervisor supports the District Manager in maintaining legal beverage operations and compliance.

Responsibilities,

Duties & Accountabilities
  • Assists with the restaurant’s operations, manages staff members, and ensures the guests have an excellent dining experience.
  • Ensures the highest standards of quality, service and merchandising for the restaurants.
  • Ensures guests are treated with utmost respect and professional courtesy from start to finish.
  • Assists the Supervisor to train and develop staff on marketing and service of daily specials, working to ensure all guests receive exceptional customer service (e.g., immediate beverage offering, appetiser presentation, highlighting specials, checking back for satisfaction, clearing tables, boxing take‑away leftovers, marketing desserts).
  • Assists the Supervisor to train staff members, manage employee performance and development, mentor, and address employee relations issues.
    • Trains and works closely with staff to ensure only the highest quality food is prepared, cooked, and delivered to customers.
    • Provides continuous and updated training for all staff on processes, expectations, serving the public, and following policies.
    • Ensures continuous training and staff knowledge of safe and healthy practices for food handling, preparation, required permits, and Serv Safe Certification.
  • Fills in for staff members to ensure coverage during absences.
  • Courteously addresses customer complaints, concerns, and issues, and trains employees to handle them professionally.
  • Ensures all staff have the appropriate food handling, health/safety training and permits, and continuously trains on proper, hygienic food handling practices.
  • Assists with purchasing, strict inventory control, legal requirements, and training staff on all legal beverages (liquor, beer, wine) and bar supplies; provides leadership with routine reporting.
  • Maintains strict control of Age‑21 protocols for staff and guests; trains and leads employees to limit liability related to excessive drinking, including persuading customers to stop drinking and arranging transportation when necessary.
  • Ensures an exceptionally clean environment by cross‑training other employees in bussing and general cleaning services; all staff is responsible for cleanliness of dining room, kitchen, prep areas, and commissary.
  • Ensures proper payment policies, processes and controls are trained and followed.
  • Assists with inventory, with emphasis on legal beverages; prepares accurate results for leadership review.
  • Takes a proactive, positive and sincere interest in customers, ensuring continuity of the company’s relationship with the community.
  • Complies with and sets example for, teaches and trains employees on all company policies, standards, SOPs, departmental checklists, and required rules and practices.
  • Follows, trains and sets example for safety and security practices, ensuring daily and routine checklists (opening, closing, cleaning) are completed with attention to detail.
  • Ensures employees successfully participate in all required trainings and follow all departmental checklists and SOPs.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.
Position Requirements and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED; college‑level coursework in Management, Accounting or Business‑Related field preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years working in Food and Beverage in a management capacity.
  • Minimum two years’ experience managing employees, with strong leadership skills and ability to train staff in restaurant operations.
  • Minimum two years experience with Legal Beverages, emphasizing beverage costs, inventory controls, policies and state‑law compliance.
  • Demonstrated above‑average knowledge of Food and Beverage and Legal Beverages operations.
  • Demonstrated experience with stocking/inventory, cost versus sales/profits, and product security controls.
  • Proficient computer skills, preferably with Microsoft Office, POS systems and related technology.
  • Demonstrated customer service experience and ability to address public concerns and complaints tactfully.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees, exercising professionalism.
  • Professional demeanor and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to apply strategic business logic while making sound decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion with sensitive information, exercising good judgment.
