Electrical Technician II – Intermountain Electronics

First‑shift position:
Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Overtime on an as‑needed basis.
- Identify and wire general utility circuits such as exit lights, GFCIs, lighting fixtures, receptacles, and switches.
- Layout, bend, and install EMT and rigid conduit in compliance with NEC code.
- Select appropriate wire and cable for installations based on prints and diagrams.
- Safely pull and run cable and wire while meeting conduit or cable tray fill requirements.
- Terminate a variety of wire and cable in panels, circuits, and components including switch gear, UPSs, transformers, circuit breakers, relays, terminal blocks, VFDs, and more.
- Mount electrical components and fixtures according to mechanical drawings and code requirements.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose causes of electrical or mechanical malfunction, make necessary repairs or adjustments, and communicate changes to the proper channels for drawing redlines and updates.
- Understand, interpret, and apply the current NEC code, MSHA code, and other applicable codes to install electrical circuits, components, and grounding/bonding infrastructure.
- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical prints, including single and three‑line wire diagrams, control schematics, and cable schedules.
- Use a strong foundation in electrical theory to problem‑solve and troubleshoot electrical issues or failures.
- Consult job travelers for required project information, including torque sheets, bills of materials, and special customer requirements.
- Operate wire strippers, crimpers, drills, utility knives, conduit benders, reciprocating saws, and other hand and power tools as needed.
- Use multimeters, volt‑ohm meters, hi‑pot equipment.
- Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and hoists to assist in electrical assembly and moving materials/projects.
- Maintain and store tools in good operating condition and store them properly at the end of each shift.
- Maintain regular and consistent job attendance; arrive on time.
- Follow and comply with IE Core Values.
- Adhere to IE safety program, including Cardinal Safety Rules.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area at all times.
- 2,000–4,000 hours of on‑the‑job electrician experience.
- Pass IE Electrical Technician II Competency Test with a score of 75% or higher.
