Communications Field Supervisor

Position Summary

The Communications Field Supervisor oversees the installation, maintenance, and repair of communication systems, such as fiber optics, telecommunications, and radio networks. They manage a team of technicians, ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required standards. The supervisor coordinates field activities, troubleshoots complex issues, and maintains accurate records of all operations while ensuring compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and quality standards.

Additionally, the supervisor liaises with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders to meet project goals and address any concerns that arise in the field.

• Prioritize safety in all tasks and comply with company and client safety protocols.
• Champion Ener Star Core Values in all professional activities.
• Lead daily operations and technical activities.
• Provide customer support for technical issues with housing, satellite, internet, cameras, and other communications equipment.
• Assist in new business development; interface with other Ener Star management teams in Power Generation, Housing, Trucking, and Head Office.
• Collaborate with Engineering for R&D, site demonstrations, and new technology deployment.
• Use software tools to track team hours, vacations, and inventory.
• Assist technicians with installation, testing, and troubleshooting issues.
• Work with vendors to maintain equipment and ensure upgrades.
• Oversee, support, and train communications technicians.
• Work in the field as needed; schedule and dispatch technicians to jobsites.
• Maintain and stock communications equipment and consumables; help develop LTE, Satellite, and Remote monitoring solutions.
• Keep upper management informed of Communications Group activities.
• Participate in other relevant tasks as assigned.

• Physical Requirements:
  
  Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, bending, climbing, walking, standing for extended periods, and working in confined spaces.
• Medical Fitness:
  Candidates must be medically fit to handle physically demanding tasks and work in varying environmental conditions; periodic medical evaluations may be required.

  Outdoor work in extreme weather (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind) and exposure to dust, noise, and other environmental factors.

• Associate’s Degree preferred in telecommunications, electronics, or electrical engineering.
• Technical certifications in fiber optics (e.g., Certified Fiber Optic Technician), telecommunications, or networking (e.g., CompTIA Network+) are preferred.

• Minimum 4+ years of proven communications tech progressive career growth.

• Professional demeanor at all times.
• Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Technical skills in telecom, network design, cable installation, and similar.
• Ability to make and rig up RJ‑45, coaxial, LMR‑240, LMR‑400 cables and ends.
• Knowledge of satellite system deployment and support.
• Knowledge of PTZ network camera systems.
• Basic electronics repair skills are an asset.
• Use of Signal Finder to optimize antenna positioning.
